Wax Removal

Wax removal – Using the VorOtek Micro-Suctioning System

Wax removal is now available at Barossa Hearing using the VorOtek suction equipment and curettage.

Micro-Suction under the direct vision of a VorOtek O Scope is a simple, safe and effective way to remove excess ear wax and clear blockages in the ear canal.

It is accepted as the safest and most comfortable & effective technique; we highly recommend this for people who have had a negative experience with traditional syringing.

To prepare for your appointment it is recommended to use one of the following products if you DO NOT have perforated eardrums. Please only use spray or drops if you have been cleared by your general practitioner to do so.

Clean ears Spray (available to purchase in our clinic)

Ear Clear drops

Ear Clear Spray

Please use the drops or the spray 3 times a day – 3 days prior to your appointment.

The best way to use these products is to have someone else administer them for you, if this isn’t available, we recommend doing one ear at a time, so the drops have time to reach the wax. Lay on the one side for 15 minutes minimum and then repeat on the other side.

CURRENT PRICING AS OF 1/7/2024* – *Subjected to change

Current Clients of Barossa Hearing on Pension – discounted rate                          $90

This will be discussed at the time of consultation if necessary.

Please advise the clinician if you are on any medications eg Warfarin or Aspirin.

Micro-suction is a very safe and effective way of managing ear wax (cerumen).

The Barossa Hearing Difference

With trained hearing specialists, audiologists and audiometrists, Barossa Hearing is independently owned, giving you access to expert, unbiased advice.

What does this mean for you?  Unlike many hearing clinics, we are NOT owned by a hearing-aid company. This means we will give you unbiased advice, instead of selling your our brand of hearing aids. We focus on the best solution for your hearing. We only recommend using a hearing device if we feel you will benefit from it and always provide an obligation-free trial.

We are also accredited under the Hearing Services Program to provide Department of Veteran Affairs clients and pensioners with a range of services at no out-of-pocket expense.

Barossa Hearing is also locally owned. With over 40 years experience by our team, and over 14 years helping locals, Barossa Hearing will help you hear what you have been missing.
